Endorsements
Chairman and CEO of Forbes, Inc., former Presidential candidate and national conservative leader, Steve Forbes announced his endorsement of Todd Tiahrt for the United States Senate.
“Todd Tiahrt has been a leader on the issues that matter most to conservatives,” said Forbes. “Whether he is fighting for fiscal restraint, tax reform or a strong national defense, Todd is always out front bringing others with him.”
“Steve Forbes is a great American, and I am pleased to have earned his support,” said Tiahrt. “He has advanced conservative principles as a candidate and an activist and has brought visibility to a whole host of issues like the flat tax, medical savings accounts, a new Social Security system for working Americans, parental choice of schools for their children, term limits and a strong national defense.”
“The choice in the Kansas Senate race is pretty clear,” Forbes explained. “The voters of Kansas have an opportunity to vote for a true conservative leader, whose vote can be counted on for the important issues facing our country. That conservative leader is Todd Tiahrt. Todd has the vision and leadership skills necessary to be a conservative leader in the US Senate."
Tiahrt is the leading conservative running to replace Sam Brownback in the United States Senate. He has been recognized throughout his career for fighting for lower taxes, traditional values and limited government.

As you know, I do not personally endorse many political candidates. However, with the stakes so high in the 2010 elections, I believe it is imperative that we elect Christian leaders who will fight for the principles that promote strong family values. That is why I am enthusiastically endorsing Todd Tiahrt in his race for the United States Senate.
Throughout his career in public service, Todd has never cowered in the face of a tough fight. Whether it is defending the lives of the unborn, working to preserve parental rights or standing up for traditional marriage, he has been willing to fight important battles. He not only votes the right way, but he also speaks out and helps lead the fight to get conservative policies enacted. Todd's activism is not a recent development, but a mark of his entire political career. I'm confident that he will continue to be an advocate for the family in the Senate.
Please know that I am speaking only for myself, and not as a representative of any organization. That being said, it desperately needs his powerful influence. I am asking you to lend your support to Congressman Todd Tiahrt in his campaign for the U.S. Senate.
Sincerely,

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Conservative champion, United States Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK), today threw his support behind Congressman Todd Tiahrt (R-Goddard) in his bid for the US Senate seat being vacated by Senator Sam Brownback. Inhofe is a three-term Senator from Oklahoma known nationally for his strong support for Israel and his vocal opposition to climate change legislation, including the Cap-and-Tax bill currently before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. "There is a real battle going on in Washington.a philosophical battle between Nancy Pelosi and her Washington liberals, who want to tax and spend this country into deeper recession and mind-numbing debt and a group of conservatives who believe we must stop bailing-out Wall Street and start investing again in Main Street," said Inhofe, "Todd Tiahrt is one of those conservatives." "Our future is on the line," continued Inhofe, "and Todd Tiahrt is ready to answer the call." Inhofe joins the growing list of conservatives who have endorsed Tiahrt including former Sen. Rick Santorum, Congressman Mike Rogers, former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, former Congressman Jim Ryun, and conservative talk radio icon Mark Levin. Tiahrt also has the support of conservative groups Concerned Women for America, Kansans for Life, Family Research Council PAC and Eagle Forum. |

Former Senator Rick Santorum |
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Outspoken conservative and former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) today announced his support for Congressman Todd Tiahrt (R-Goddard). Santorum was a two-term Senator from Pennsylvania and served as the chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, the third most powerful leadership position in the Senate. While in the Senate, Santorum was a champion of efforts to counter the threat of radical Islam, to protect the rights of the unborn, and to defend the traditional definition of marriage.
"Courage is in short supply in Washington D.C. Whether it is fighting for the right to life or fighting for the liberty we hold dear, compromise and "going along to get along" cannot be an option for conservatives," Santorum said.
"We need a United States Senator with the courage and character to stand up for what is right, regardless of the political costs," continued Santorum. "For this reason, I put my full faith and support behind the candidacy of Congressman Todd Tiahrt for the United States Senate in Kansas."
Santorum currently serves as a Senior Fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, and directs the center's Program to Protect America's Freedom which works to identify, study, and heighten awareness of the threats to America. The program focuses specifically on communicating threats posed by states which are fueled by Islamic Fascism or an anti-American sentiment.

Kansas Resident Gracia Burnham |
My friend, Todd Tiahrt, is running for Senate this November 3rd. I am thinking that he is well known and loved here in the Wichita area where I live, but might not be elsewhere in the State.
I wanted to share some thoughts about Todd.
The first time I heard about him was on New Year's Eve when we were being held captive in the Philippine jungle. We had "mobiled" for several days because we were going to meet up with another terrorist group that had been out trying to find food and supplies. We found a couple of fruit trees that day and were very excited to have something to eat. As we were harvesting fruit, a plane went over. We hid as best we could (as we always did when aircraft went over). Some of the guys looked to Martin and said, "Is that plane going to bomb us?" Martin said, "No, that is a special plane. That is probably someone important - a dignitary or something. They won't bomb us." Sabaya, the leader of our group looked at us and said, "I heard on the radio this morning that your congressman from Kansas is here in the Philippines."
Now - we didn't have many "warm, fuzzy" moments in the jungle. But that was one of them. We didn't even know the name of our Congressman! But he was supposedly checking on us...
Four months later, after Martins death in a gun battle, and my rescue, I was finally able to find out details about Todd Tiahrt's visit to the Philippines on our behalf. Todd had travelled to Manila and met with President Arroyo and military leaders - doing what he could to get us out of there. He flew over the jungle where we were being held. Todd worked tirelessly on our behalf from the US end as well. He cut through government red tape and made things happen.
Todd was there at the airport when I arrived back in the United States I had such fun telling him the story of us watching him fly over on New Year's Eve. He couldn't believe that we had actually seen his plane.
Now, Martin and I were not wealthy or from influential families. We weren't "a big company." We were normal hard working Kansas folks. But Todd thought we were important enough to go to bat for. I will never forget this man's kindness towards the Burnham family.
What I have found, though, is that Todd does that for all kinds of people! All around our district, Todd has the reputation for fighting for the regular guy ... whether it is battling to keep an inner city community from losing their grocery store, or helping the lady in the suburbs who is having trouble getting disability. I have heard stories of people with needs and have taken them to Todd's office downtown, or given them his phone number - and they have never turned anyone away and said "We can't help you." I think we have this idea that politicians are nameless, faceless people working out of an office in a faraway place who are somehow disjointed from real life in Kansas. Todd Tiahrt and his staff are not like that. They strive to know what is going on with us. They are prepared to help in any way they can.
I have made several trips to Washington DC the past several years at the government's request, and I've made it a point to stop in at the Tiahrt office. Todd is well respected on Capitol Hill. I know that for a fact. I can't even begin to imagine what Todd faces on a regular basis there in his Washington office. But I know that he is a fighter and he isn't afrraid to take a stand on the hard issues. He doesn't side step them and do political dances. He works hard with us in mind. He is a man of integrity. And he is committed to conservative ideals.
He has my vote. I would love to see you join me in electing this man to the United States Senate.
Sincerely Yours,
Gracia Burnham

Dear Fellow Kansas Republican,
I served with both candidates currently running for the U.S. Senate seat in Kansas. I strongly endorse Todd Tiahrt.
Todd and Vicki were instrumental in getting me to run for Congress in 1996 and became a close friend and ideological ally as we fought for fiscal restraint and policies that protected life and traditional family values.
Kansans and most Americans want a conservative leader they can trust. They also want a leader who will fight the tough fights and get things done.
If you were in a difficult situation and needed help, the choice would be clear – you would want Todd Tiahrt standing with you.
That is why I am asking you to support Todd today.
Our country is in a difficult situation, and we need leaders who are willing to fight for our values, stand up against difficult odds and not cower in the face of tough votes.
Kansans and conservatives across the nation need Todd Tiahrt in the U.S. Senate to fight the liberal agenda being pushed by President Obama and Speaker Pelosi.
It is not enough to vote the right way most of the time. We need someone who will stand up and speak clearly and strongly for our Kansas values. We have no use for another politician who fades into the background out of fear that he will offend someone and not win 80 percent of the vote in his next election against token opposition.
Whenever I needed assistance on a project I was working on for the 2nd District of Kansas, I would turn to Todd. He has the respect of leadership and his colleagues, and as a result, has been one of the most effective members of the Kansas congressional delegation ever.
Todd was the member of the delegation to get Kansas exempted from the onerous “Wright Amendment,” which made airfares from Wichita to Dallas some of the most expensive in the nation. In just his second term in office, Todd accomplished what many others before him could not.
Todd is also respected because he is consistent and loyal. If he gives you his word, you can take it to the bank. That cannot be said about all of my former colleagues.
That respect and effectiveness may be why my former colleague former Speaker Dennis Hastert has joined me in endorsing Todd. We have worked with both candidates, and we know who will consistently fight for conservative values and get things done.
If I had never met Todd Tiahrt in my life, I would be supporting him for the U.S. Senate because of his record and his long list of accomplishments for Kansas.
Having the benefit of knowing him, knowing how he deals with tragedy and triumph, I can honestly tell you there is no better person for this job for Kansans and true conservatives everywhere.
We need Todd Tiahrt in the U.S. Senate.
Every year in January when we were in Washington, D.C. for the March for Life, I could always count on Todd Tiahrt and Sam Brownback to join me in braving the harsh cold winter weather to encourage pro-lifers from around the country and especially those stalwarts from Kansas, who always seemed to manage to be up front.
Todd is not ashamed of what he believes in, which is why we believe in him.
Please join my wife Anne and me in supporting Todd Tiahrt for the U.S. Senate.
Sincerely,
Jim Ryun
P.S. Please help Todd by sending a contribution to his campaign today!

Kansans For Life Federal Political Action Committee (KFL PAC) is today announcing its endorsement of U.S. Representative Todd Tiahrt for the U.S. Senate.
Rep. Tiahrt, of Wichita, has served seven consecutive terms, a total of fourteen years, as the United States Representative from the 4thCongressional District in Kansas.
Rep. Tiahrt has a 100% pro-life voting record, both as a U.S. Representative and as a Kansas state senator prior to that.
Equally important to Rep. Tiahrt’s voting record is his depth of knowledge, experience and proven leadership on these and related issues. The KFL Federal PAC believes it is especially important for the next U.S. Senator from Kansas to possess these qualities given the current administration's determination to remove any and all federal and state regulation of abortion. Rep. Tiahrt's leadership will also be critical to fighting the administration's promotion of embryo-destructive stem cell research, as well as their support for policies favoring the rationing of health care.
The Kansans for Life Political Action Committee wholeheartedly and without reservation endorses Rep. Todd Tiahrt as the next United States Senator from the great state of Kansas.
As a representative of the Wichita area for nearly 20 years, Rep. Tiahrt is more aware and more knowledgeable than most in Congress when it comes to "life issues."
Rep. Tiahrt understands the issues of embryonic stem cell research and cloning. He believes destructive embryonic experimentation is not only immoral, it is unnecessary given the continued success of adult stem cell therapies, and new discoveries which allow simple human skin cells to be manipulated through an ethical process into mimicking the regenerative properties of embryonic cells.
Rep. Tiahrt is the author and sponsor of the 1999 “Tiahrt Amendment” to the Global Health and Child Survival Act (Public Law 111-8/HR 1105, Division H, Title III), now in it's tenth year, which protects women and unborn children from exploitation, and in so doing, protects the integrity of American tax dollars.
The Tiahrt Amendment’s purpose is to “reduce reliance on abortion in developing nations” by insuring that tax-funded international family planning projects and sterilizations: CANNOT use quotas, incentives, bribes, gratuities, or financial rewards, nor deny any benefit, including access to health care, as a consequence of any individual's decision not to accept family planning services, and that they MUST provide comprehensible information on the health benefits and risks of methods chosen, and insure experimental contraceptive drugs, devices and medical procedures cannot be given unless participants freely chose them after being advised of their potential risks and benefits.
His effort to pass and keep the Tiahrt Amendment in place these ten years exemplifies Rep. Tiahrt’s reputation for fighting for what he believes in, and in standing by his principles.
He has been effective as a member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, and we believe he will be even more effective as a U.S. Senator.
In Congress Todd Tiahrt has led or joined in efforts to:
· Fight tax-payer funding of abortions here and abroad
· Protect the conscience rights of doctors and health care workers
· Oppose funding destructive embryonic stem cell experimentation
· Support life-saving adult and umbilical cord stem cell research
· Ban partial-birth abortion
· Support parental notification/consent abortion laws
· Support unborn victims of violence laws: “Laci and Conner’s Law”
· Defend Terri Schiavo’s right to life
· Establish adoption tax credits
· Allow older Americans to spend their own money for access to Medicare-rationed prescription drugs
· Support laws to deny Medicare bureaucrats the ability to impose ration-causing price controls
· Support child custody protection laws which disallows a minor from being taken across state lines for an abortion withoutproper parental notice/consent
Rep. Tiahrt has addressed the rally which proceeds the annual January 22nd March for Life in Washington D.C. virtually every year since his election in 1994. He and his wife Vicki

CWPAC is affiliated with Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee, which is also affiliated with Concerned Women for America, the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with 500,000 grassroots members nationwide. Todd was also the co-sponsor of the Defense of Marriage Act and the Marriage Protection Amendment. Congressman Todd Tiahrt is a strong social and fiscal conservative. He is the only candidate currently in the Senate race who has never voted for a tax increase of any kind and has voted against every bailout bill. He has gained invaluable experience from serving eight terms as a congressman. He has become so popular with his constituents that in 2008 he won by 64%. It is for these reasons and many others that Concerned Women PAC endorses Todd Tiahrt for U.S. Senate (Kansas).
