Dr. James Dobson Endorses Todd Tiahrt for US Senate

As you know, I do not personally endorse many political candidates. However, with the stakes so high in the 2010 elections, I believe it is imperative that we elect Christian leaders who will fight for the principles that promote strong family values. That is why I am enthusiastically endorsing Todd Tiahrt in his race for the United States Senate.

Throughout his career in public service, Todd has never cowered in the face of a tough fight. Whether it is defending the lives of the unborn, working to preserve parental rights or standing up for traditional marriage, he has been willing to fight important battles. He not only votes the right way, but he also speaks out and helps lead the fight to get conservative policies enacted. Todd's activism is not a recent development, but a mark of his entire political career. I'm confident that he will continue to be an advocate for the family in the Senate.

Please know that I am speaking only for myself, and not as a representative of any organization. That being said, it desperately needs his powerful influence. I am asking you to lend your support to Congressman Todd Tiahrt in his campaign for the U.S. Senate.

Tiahrt Senate Campaign airs statewide ads highlighting Tiahrt's conservative leadership

WICHITA, KS - Congressman Todd Tiahrt's (R-Goddard) United States Senate campaign today began airing television and radio advertisements across the state. The ads highlight Tiahrt's conservative leadership and are set to coincide with the annual Kansas Days festivities in which Republicans from across the state gather in Topeka for district and statewide party meetings.

"This campaign is about which candidate has been a consistent leader on both fiscal and social issues," said Tiahrt campaign manager Chuck Knapp. "There are two candidates in the Republican primary, but only one real conservative. Todd Tiahrt is the conservative champion Kansans are looking for to represent them in the United States Senate."

Tiahrt is the leading conservative running to replace Sam Brownback in the United States Senate. Tiahrt has been recognized throughout his career for fighting for lower taxes, traditional values and limited government. He has been endorsed by conservative leaders in Kansas and across the nation including Kansans for Life, Concerned Women for America PAC, Family Research Council PAC and Kansas House Majority Leader Ray Merrick, Kansas House Speaker Pro Tem Arlen Siegfried and former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft.

Campaign Finance Ruling May Impact KS Senate Race

A U.S. Supreme Court ruling released Thursday could unleash millions of additional corporate dollars aimed at influencing federal elections.

The ruling, which removes restrictions from corporate spending — and, presumably, spending by labor unions and other groups — on independent ads, applies only to federal elections, but it still highlights efforts in Kansas to make sure that voters at least know who is giving the money to support so-called “issue” advertising related to elections.

Political observers note that the federal ruling may have an impact on at least one Kansas Senate race this year. The Republican primary pits two sitting Kansas congressmen, Rep. Jerry Moran and Rep. Todd Tiahrt, against one another. National groups or corporations hoping to influence the race between the two candidates — one with conservative credentials (Tiahrt) and one who is more moderate (Moran) — now have free rein to produce and pay for their own campaign advertising. The ads are not financed or coordinated through the campaigns, but they can espouse a clear candidate preference.
