Tiahrt Statement Applauding Senate Agreement that Rejects FAA User Fees

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Todd Tiahrt (R-Goddard) issued the following statement applauding a Senate agreement that drops FAA user fees as a means to raise revenue. National Journal reported Friday that the Chairmen of the Senate Commerce and Finance committees had reached an agreement to drop a user-fee provision. Tiahrt has been a leading voice in Congress opposing FAA user fees that would harm general aviation businesses and the greater Wichita economy.

"The Senate is moving in the right direction by rejecting user fees," said Tiahrt. "I applaud this agreement to reject user fees that would shift billions of dollars in taxes off the airlines and onto general aviation small businesses.

"We want to make sure we have a fully supported and efficient air traffic control system and that general aviation contributes its fair share. But FAA user fees are not a fair solution, and I hope any further attempts to impose them continue to be rejected by my colleagues in Congress."
